Perpetuate the Legacy | Build Strong Family Bonds

I would like to say I came up with this idea on my own but I didn’t but I believe the important thing is that we all take action on things we learn.  We had church meeting a couple of weeks ago and one of the speakers was a woman who spoke about ideas that will strengthen family bonds.
One of the things she does in her family is; every couple of months they have all their extended family nearby come to her house and have a Family Home Evening, which is when a family gets together for a discussion and/or activity… usually followed by refreshment.  It’s something I’ve been thinking about for quite some time.  I had a very strong feeling about it and I decided to do just that… have a Family Home Evening at our house for extended family.
Coincidentally, my nephew and his wife had their new baby boy blessed (similar to christening) yesterday at my sister and brother-in-law’s house here nearby so I made the announcement.
I feel a responsibility to perpetuate the legacy built by our forefathers.
Although mass media and technologists try to copy, clone and mimic the personal interaction people get from literally being together face-to-face, no amount of IMs, SMSs, Tweets, or Facebook posts will really give it the justice it deserves.  It’s called pressing the flesh.  Virtual contact cannot replace reality.
We need more quality conversations… and this is a start.
Even though I am now in the business of building my business I recognize the importance of in-person contact.
